What is Culture?
Culture is defined as the collective programming of the mind, or the lens through which we look out at the world. It shapes our psychological thinking and influences how we behave. We learn culture from our parents, grandparents, teachers, and upbringing. It includes things like how to eat food, how to deal with members of the opposite gender, how to deal with conflict, and what constitutes good teamwork and leadership.
Culture is important because it shapes our behavior and helps us to fit in with our group. However, it is important to remember that not everyone in a culture is the same, and there are subcultures within cultures. Additionally, people’s experiences can vary depending on their individual background and perspective. So, while culture can give us a general idea of where someone might be coming from, it is always important to check our assumptions and avoid making generalizations.
